EPIC - ERIC PRYDZ LAUNCHES LIVE SHOW...

After 18 months of preparations, the curtain has finally raised on EPIC: Eric Prydz In Concert. The debut show at London’s Brixton Academy on Saturday 2 April was loftily billed as “the largest DJ show ever conceived”, and the results were certainly worthy of its name.

In the lead-up to the big reveal, Prydz’s blog documented the construction of the towering 30-metre stage set, which took 18 hours to build. EPIC was designed, built and installed by visuals architects Immersive, whose vision for the Swedish superstar included holographic visuals and 3D animation projections.

“We’ve got rotational mapping – a system that we custom built – which allows us to move objects whilst continually mapping them with visuals,” says EPIC’s director Mark Calvert on the blog. “There’s an incredibly high resolution rear screen that runs on six HD projectors, and then of course, the hologram screen which runs on one HD projector.”

Luckily all the hard work paid off, with ecstatic reviews rolling in from the sold-out show. After a warm-up from Scottish pro Funk D’Void, Prydz stepped up for his full-throttle mind-melt. Of course, the YouTube uploads have started flooding in, so check them out below:

Prydz is taking the EPIC staging to the English countryside for Global Gathering. He’s doing his thing in the Global tent alongside live legends Underworld and fellow Immersive convert Sasha, who collaborated with the company on his V_rtek live show.
Booom.
